Pop's newest darling: Sabrina Carpenter

Born in 1999, in Pennsylvania, as a child Sabrina began her career recording covers of Adele, Christina Aguilera, Taylor Swift and many other pop divas. But her debut in Hollywood really began when she participated in “The Next Miley Cyrus Project”, which aimed to find new stars at Disney. And even though she came in third place, her participation earned her a contract with Hollywood Records.

His TV debut was in 2014, in the series “Girl Meets World”, a spin-off of “Boy Meets World”. Her character in the series, Maya, established a fanbase and with that she began her career as a professional singer. But she wanted more and so left her old label and signed with Island Records. According to her, this change would bring her more creative freedom and a more mature image of herself.

The irony of fate was that Sabrina's name gained notoriety not because of her music or her acting, but because of a rumor. At the time of the release of “Driver’s License”, by Olivia Rodrigo, everyone speculated that the blonde girl mentioned in this song was Sabrina. However, in this whole story, Sabrina was seen as the villain, as someone who had separated Olivia and Joshua. As a result, Sabrina was the target of a wave of hate on the internet, but she did not remain silent and soon released the song “Skin”, as a response to everything that was happening. Which resulted in his debut on the Billboard Hot 100.

But as everything on the internet has an expiration date, over time people stopped attacking her villain and everyone saw that it was all an exaggeration. And with that, Sabrina got what she wanted: to be seen as a woman and not as a little Disney girl. She is real, a human being, who also went through difficulties and attacks from the media and the internet.

Moving forward in time, in 2023, Sabrina, despite not having released an album, gained notoriety with speculation about a possible relationship with Barry Keoghan. And with the release of Expresso and overwhelming publicity by her and her record label, the song was so successful that it ranked third on the Billboard Hot 100 and reached first place as the most listened to song worldwide on Spotify.

She then didn't stop there and took advantage of her prominence by releasing her newest album “Short n' Sweet”, which features Espresso and Please, Please, Please. Only two songs at the top of the charts.
