Models are people who promote and display commercial products, helping to advertise a brand, or even an idea. Although the world of fashion, with famous brands and grandiose shows, is the best known, modeling can be used to advertise all kinds of products and services.
The models are neither actors nor dancers, they can do work for video advertisements, for
example in advertising campaigns and fashion films. However, in the case of casting tests for some cinematographic productions, it is common to hire actors and not models.
What makes a model?
But, after all, what makes a model? As previously mentioned, the model provides its image to advertise, promote or present a product or service of any kind.
He can work only with photography or drawing, or he can work live, in parades or fairs, for example. In addition, he can also be hired to host an event, whether of a fashion nature or not.
Beauty is undoubtedly a mandatory requirement, but those who say that this is the only attribute that a model must have are wrong, because beauty alone is not enough, since the model must have ideal height and weight, if any. a fashion model, in addition to having charisma, professionalism and posture.
In other words, there's no point in having a pretty face if later, when it's time to shoot, you don't have an attitude that captivates the camera, or else, you're not punctual and don't take the work of the rest of the team seriously.
Many people have the common sense of thinking that to be a model you don't need to study, but is it really necessary to study for this profession? And the answer is yes, because it is necessary to specialize and become professional in order to be a qualified and competent professional.
In order to become professional in this career, it is not necessary to have a degree in higher
education, as the model can take model training courses, which teach all the knowledge he must have to perform his role well.
Therefore, the model must study about the fashion market, fashion history, languages, culture from different countries, etiquette, catwalk, personal development, photogenics, photography, current events, makeup, among other subjects. In addition, it is essential that the model has a well-defined ethics and morals, in order to remain true to itself and treat everyone with respect.
With regard to the job market for models, competition is fierce and vacancies are few. In addition, the requirements to enter this career are demanding, which makes entering the job market even more difficult.
In addition to being difficult to enter, this is a very irregular sector, as it is not constant work. During the year, there will be months that you will work a lot, and others that will not come at all, so it is important that the model is prepared professionally, physically and psychologically for the challenges that the modeling career brings.
More job vacancies arise when the economy is better, because more is invested in advertising. However, when the economy is not favorable, or when it goes through times of crisis, the job market for models goes through difficulties.
Initially, the model works for fashion agencies, which mediate between brands and models. However, it is possible to work exclusively for a brand, especially when you already have some reputation.
