Known as the true representation of an otaku, here are the 3 moments when Umaru
Doma showed herself as a big lazybones.

In this anime, the protagonist shows her high school life and how she is very good at
being a perfect student. Perfect grades, great sports performance, popularity and
beauty, Umaru Doma ticks all the boxes.
But, who has watched the anime Himouto! Umaru-chan knows that the protagonist is
known to be adept at staying at home and doing nothing all day. So, it's at home that
she shows her true colors: a lazy girl who prefers to play video games and eat potato
chips all day.
Despite her older brother's efforts to make her eat better and not spend all day at
home, it's almost impossible to get Umaru to leave laziness and the life of an otaku
aside.
And here are the times when she just wanted to stay home and do what she loves
most: relaxing and doing nothing.
“Umaru and Summer Vacation” (episode 5)
This episode demonstrates how Umaru enjoys her summer vacation. She even does
a lot of non-lazy stuff, like playing games with Tachibana Sylphynford at the local
arcade and shopping for new clothes with her friends.
But, Umaru still has plenty of time to spend the whole day enjoying the cool air
conditioning while her friend Kirie serves her a cold drink. And since the weather was
so nice, they slept the rest of the afternoon.
There's nothing more lazy than spending the whole day at home, sleeping and doing nothing.

“Umaru and Her Brother” (episode 1)
In this episode, Umaru wants to teach his hamsters some tricks and post them on
the internet to earn a lot of money. Her plan is for Taihei, her older brother, to buy her
more hamsters so they can bring her snacks and carry her around so she doesn't
have to move.
At that moment, Umaru shows the dream of any lazy person: not needing to move to
get around and having everything at your fingertips.

“Umaru and Ebina-chan” (episode 2)
In one of the parts of this episode, Umaru spends all Saturday night playing video
games and drinking Coke. She even tries to do something else and wakes up her
brother to play with her, but she can't resist and falls asleep. Which resulted in a day
filled with laziness, starting with video games and ending with sleep.

Of course, there are many more moments of laziness in the anime and this is just a
sample of Umaru's power of laziness.
The protagonist has a free pass to be lazy, because that's part of her charm and her
nature. Also, laziness is part of your name too, literally.
To be more exact, the term “Himouto” means "little sister of dried fish", which is a
reference to the combination of the terms "himono-onna", which means "woman of
dried fish". These terms refer to a lazy person who just stays at home and does absolutely nothing.
This type of person just plays, eats and sleeps. And that's the protagonist of the anime Himouto! Umaru-chan is: the representation of laziness.
